Llanishen's Roll of Honour

Researching the Fallen

The Society is beginning a project which involves researching the service histories and stories of the men from the village who fell in the two World Wars.

In addition to the roll of honour inside St Isan's Church, there are 8 Commonwealth War Graves in the churchyard, all of whom are Second World War casualties, and although the project was initially going to focus upon these graves, it was decided to widen it to cover all of the men who fell from the village.

The Society would welcome any help or input from either relatives of the fallen or interested parties in uncovering these men's stories. In addition, if anyone knows of someone from Llanishen who is not on the list, we would also very much like to hear from you. Please contact our military history researcher, Jeremy Konsbruck.

The Society would like to thank Dr Jonathan Hicks, Garron Evans, Ritchie Wood, Patricia Evans, Margaret Aven and some of the family members of the men listed below for their assistance in the current stage of this project.

Below is the current roll of honour for the village from the two World Wars. You can find out more about the ongoing progress of the project, and the men being studied, at the project weblog:
